Principal's Message

Welcome to Horizon Middle School, home of the Huskies, where our students Persevere, Achieve, Connect, and are Kind.   Living by our PACK promise, the mission of our school is simply, Excellence: Every Day for Every One! Each day quality education is provided for approximately 1000 sixth through eighth grade students.

As a school dedicated to excellence, it is our goal to provide a well-rounded middle school education for our students and community.  In addition to teaching a rigorous curriculum, students are provided an opportunity to participate in numerous clubs and activities beyond the school day, including homework club, athletics, chess club, National Junior Honor Society, intramural sports, drama club, student council, and much more!

Parents and community members are encouraged to partner and connect through various committees and parent organizations.  These include Partnership for Academically Successful Students (PASS), whose participants meet monthly on Thursday evenings, Parent Teacher Community Organization (PTCO), Horizon's Accountability Committee, and Principal's Coffees.

This year, we have a new starting time—8:50 AM—and corresponding bell schedule.  The later time was a district-wide decision made after extensive research and study looking at sleeping habits of K-12 students.  We are excited that this new time and schedule should improve the ability of our students to learn.  You can access the bell schedule from our website's newsreel.
Whether you are joining us for the first time, or you are a seasoned veteran of Horizon, thank you for taking the time to visit our website.  If you need further assistance, feel free to contact me.  Have a great 2017-2018 school year!

Warmest regards,

Nickie Bell

Principal
